So, you are getting your website filled an aligned with what you had in mind? Then you are ready to select a theme.

Themes are independent of content, you can switch themes (or looks) without loosing content.

There are many themes available at the Drupal website and on other places of the internet, try searching for "Drupal theme" in a search engine. Install them in sites/all/themes, not in themes directly. This help upgrading the site without problems.

The module "Color" help you to color the default (Garland) theme.

So, time to change a theme, go to Themes (admin/build/themes) and select one that you like.

After selecting one, you can configure that theme. Press "configure" right next to the theme list.

1. Color scheme (Only available if you have the "Color" module enabled and use a theme engine and theme that are compatible with this module, like Garland.) Change colors as you like
2. Toggle display
• Logo Do you want to use a logo? Likely.
• Site name Display the site name? Likely.
• Site slogan The site slogan could be a little to long, shorten it and have it displayed. This will help search engines determine what is important on your website.
• Mission statement Show it? Possibly too long, you might need to test this.
• User pictures in posts Like an avatar, have user postings contain an image.
• User pictures in comments Same as above but then for comments. Comments normally don't require a user account.
• Search box This could be helpful, seeing the search field on each page.
• Shortcut icon You can change the favicon. This icon is displayed in most browsers, in the URL bar. It's a very small icon...

After changing these items, go back to your front page and test it a few times, after 15 minutes or so you should be done.
