Puppet configuration management

When you have many machines to manage, a configuration management tool will help control the environment.

What is Puppet configuration management

Puppet is an object oriented descriptive language that allows clients to log in periodically to the puppet master. The puppet master has a description for what the machines configuration looks like. This includes many aspects, but for example:

  • Services that need to be on or off.
  • Files with environment specific details
  • Packages that need to be (un)available.
  • Users that need to be (un)available.
  • Website configured on one or more server.

Each environment will use it's own Puppet master server for security purposes.

Standard modules we supply are:

  • Resolving (/etc/resolv.conf).
  • Time servers (/etc/ntpd.conf).
  • Packages required to be installed.
  • Services required to be started at boot time.

Pricing

Puppet master: € 100,-/month
Standard modules: € 25,- to (re)configure.
Extended modules: Depending on the complexity, anywhere from € 25,- up to € 500,-. (An estimate can be given, based on your requirements.)
