Why do you get money? Because good articles are worth it, they attract potential customers and other related crowds to this website. Besides that, it can be hard to make an extra buck, but this is an efficient way, write an article in your own time, send it to Robert de Bock and wait for it to be published.

Your article does not need to be long, (or short) it just needs to be interesting. Keywords to guide you: howto, missing man page, setup-documentation, documented experiment, etc. Besides that, you must be the writer of the article, not a rip-off/copy-paste from somebody else. Last requirement; you must not submit (or have submitted) the same article on other sites.

You can even (buy or freely) advertise your article to attract more readers with tools like Google Adwords, StumbleUpOn, Digg, or any other tool, as long as the article is read by the required amount of users.
